Owners manual
An owners manual (also called an instruction manual) is an
instructional book or booklet that is supplied with almost all
technologically advanced consumer products such as vehicles,
appliances and computer peripherals.
Manual page (Unix)
Almost all substantial UNIX and Unix-like operating systems have
extensive documentation known as man pages (short for "manual
pages"). The Unix command used to display them is man. Each page is
a self-contained document. The man command is analogous to the help
command in the command shells of DOS, OS/2 and Microsoft Windows.
User guide
A user guide, also commonly known as a manual, is a technical
communication document intended to give assistance to people using a
particular system[citation needed]. It is usually written by a
technical writer, although user guides could be written by
programmers, product or project managers, or other technical staff,
particularly in smaller companies.
Instruction manual
An instruction manual, in the context of computer and video games,
is a booklet that instructs the player on how to play the game,
gives descriptions of the controls and their effects, and shows a
general outline of the concepts and goals of the game. It is also
common for manuals to contain a brief summary of the storyline of
the game, especially in games with complex storylines, such as role
playing games. Manuals can be large, such as the Civilization II
manual which runs hundreds of pages, or small, such as the single
sheet of double-sided A5 paper included with Half-Life 2.
